It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when representing the school in an organised event. A complete list of the items needed for school uniform is available in our Policies and Documents Section (Uniform Appendix).

The role of parents
We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork. One of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform, and that it is clean and in good repair. We also expect all clothing, shoes, trainers, and plimsolls to be clearly marked with the child’s name.
The school is aware that some families may have difficulty in providing uniform for their children. In this instance parents are invited to contact the school office to discuss whether they are eligible for one of the means of support that the school can offer.
If any parent would like the school to modify the uniform policy, for example on religious reasons, they should make representation, in the first instance, to the head teacher. The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. When there are agreed reasons for exceptions to the uniform policy they will be recorded and kept on file.
Please note that trainers are not part of our school uniform and that any child wearing trainers will be asked to produce a current dated letter from parents explaining why they have to be worn that particular day.
In the interest of the children whose feet are still growing and forming, shoes made of breathable material such as leather are preferred and totally plastic shoes (jelly shoes) are not acceptable. Flat sandals that provide firm support may be worn in summer but they must have a heel strap to ensure that the foot cannot slip off the sandal. Winter boots/Wellington boots may be worn to and from school during bad weather but shoes must be brought to school and worn during the school day
Important Please Note: Only simple ear studs/sleepers may be worn, not ear rings. No other jewellery is allowed “Pupils should not wear jewellery, including ear studs when engaged in physical education or school sport.” (NCC and Association for Physical Education guidance). Jewellery has to be removed; covering studs with tape or plaster is not permitted. If jewellery cannot be removed the child may not take part in the PE lesson.
Watches – Inexpensive watches may be worn in Key Stage 2. (If a watch is designed for games or making disruptive noises it should not be worn for school and will be looked after by the teacher and returned at the end of the day.)
Make-up and hair
No make-up may be worn during the school day (this includes nail varnish) and extreme haircuts or colouring are not considered appropriate. In P.E. lessons, long hair, braiding and any ribbons or hair ornaments need to be tied back securely. Excessive use of gel or hair products is not permitted.
All children require a coat in school when the weather is changeable, cold or wet.
On hot sunny days the children should be protected from the sun when outdoors by;
(Please note that teachers are not allowed to apply sun creams.)
The school reserves the right to keep individual children indoors should they not be adequately protected from the weather. In this instance children will sit in the hall until it is time to return to class.
At times whole classes, groups and Key Stages will stay indoors and in these instances the children will undertake an alternative activity such as – reading, colouring, listening to a story, playing simple board games, watching a video etc.
Should your child be selected for a school team, the choir or a special event, they will need to wear appropriate clothing e.g. the school football strip (which is provided). Choir members and groups selected to represent the school at special events are asked to wear a formal white shirt and school tie (spare ties will be available), and grey trousers or skirt, with a school logo sweatshirt or cardigan available in case they become cold.
